Are You Up For A Mountain Biking Challenge? You and your friends should be heading for the hills of Southern Snowdonia – to join Gold Rush! Mountain bike enthusiasts from all over the UK and beyond are being invited to enter the Mawddach Gold Rush Challenge 2009 in the Coed Y Brenin Forest - following the success of the inaugural event in 2008. Last year more than 100 riders competed in the rigorous 50k endurance race, which took place in the scenic Snowdonia National Park, nr Dolgellau, and the Mawddach Estuary in Gwynedd. Although there was no time to sample the views as they hurtled through forests, across fords, and up and down some of the most challenging ascents and descents in the whole of the UK. This year the organizers want to raise more than £2,000 for Wales Air Ambulance, and the Institute of Cancer Research, The event will take place on Sunday, March 8th 2009. Enter as team or as an individual and you could be in with a chance to win The Stash of Gold. Entrance fees for solo riders and relay teams will be held at £30 and £45 respectively. As before, the Challenge will run on a course based on the famous TARW trail with twisty, rocky sections and fast-flowing descents. The event will be fully marshalled – with emergency fully qualified medical teams on stand-by. Cadair View Lodge is offering accommodation for that weekend at a reduced rate of £180 for a 2 night stay in a 2 bed roomed cabin or £110 for a single night stay. There is one 3 bed roomed cabin available at £200 for a 2 night stay. You can keep your cabin until you've finished your ride - then come back to get showered and changed... usually charged at £25 extra. |
