Residential Digital Photography Courses

We run 2 day weekend or mid-week digital photography courses to help people understand how to get the most from their digital cameras and how to use a computer for digital editing.

Photo courses are run on demand, on a 1-2-1 or 1-2-2 basis (for guests coming together).  They are fully customisable and are run at the attendee's pace.  The courses are very "hands on".  Attendees will be supplied with a laptop for use during the course and if they haven't got a suitable camera it is possible to hire one from us for the course.  It is possible to go over and over things as many times as required until the concepts are understood, and nobody will mind attendees asking "daft" questions.

The course price includes self catering accommodation in one of our log cabins in Snowdonia.  Attendees will be assigned a whole log cabin to themselves and so are welcome to bring their partner or family to stay in the cabin (but not attend the course) at no extra cost.  As courses are quite intense (often 9.30 - 5.30 both days) attendees often extend their stay with us before or after the course, to give them a chance to see Snowdonia and try out their newly acquired photography skills.

Short Photography Workshops

Many of our guests are so excited by our local scenery that they want to make sure that they've got some great photos to show their family and friends when they go home.  So we are now pleased to be able to provide short workshops for guests who are staying with us.

These workshops offer 3 hours training, to fit in with your holiday schedule (mornings/afternoons/evenings).  You will be able to have some of the key photographic techniques explained and have any questions that you may have about your camera answered  The techniques explained on these workshops are equally applicable to people taking photos using their phone or a small point-and-shoot camera as they are to somebody with the latest DSLR.

We charge just £30 per person or £50 for 2 people for these workshops.  As with our residential courses attendees won't be asked to share a course with somebody that they don't know.

For most people a 3 hour session is such an eye opener that their photography changes forever.  It is a great way to 'dip your toe' into the exciting world of digital photography and to pick up some photography tips and tricks from a professional photographer.

The mini courses are in great demand and will be offered on a first come , first served basis.  If you are interested in including a workshop in your stay please tell us when you book your log cabin.  We can, however, often fit a session in at the last minute during your stay.

Be Warned!  Digital editing is very addictive and once your eyes have been opened to its possibilities you my well find yourself returning for more detailed courses!!

Some Course Feedback

"I would like to thank you for the photography course last weekend.  I thoroughly enjoyed it and got so much from it I can't believe.  As I explained I have been on several residential photography courses - some given by people who have lots of letters after their names and others given by people who have won numerous photography competitions.  I have found that they were often either ego trips for the person giving the course or a forum in which some attendees vied for the sole attention of the person giving the course.  Having a one-to-one course with you was a revelation!  I could stop you and ask the questions that popped up in my head, when they came into my head and you had infinite patience with me.  You were genuinely interested in helping me rather than in proving that you knew more that I did.  Thank you so much!"

"Thanks for the weekend. I had a brilliant time, and it has given me the impetus to get out there and use the camera more.  I appreciate everything over the weekend. The cabins are lovely, and the area is magnificent. We will be back for more as soon as I can."

"We had a fantastic time and learned a lot. We have nothing but praise for Ray.  Thank you for a pleasant, informative and interesting weekend.....the weather was damn good too!"

"Thank you for helping me work out how to use my camera.  I now have the confidence to take if off automatic and know that I'll get great shots."

"My husband loved the course - he talked almost non-stop about it to everyone for the first few days he was at home! And he's so pleased with what he's learnt and what he did on the course! It was a perfect way to get his enthusiasm going.  Thank you for arranging this very special and unique present for him and it was certainly one that he'd never have thought about doing for himself."

"I learnt more in 2 days with you than I did in a whole year at night school!  And it all made sense!"

"Many thanks for a very inspiring couple of days. It was all that I hoped for and I found your expertise (and patience) a real eye opener.  I hope I can remember even half of what you tried to instil.".

"I really enjoyed my course with you Ray and have learnt a lot. All I need now is for my brain to regurgitate it in some sort of order !! I am starting to use the techniques and look forward to doing more.  I certainly will recommend you and the course."

"My husband couldn't believe that I'd taken (and edited) the photos on the disk that I brought home from the course.  The big montage that you helped me with has now been printed and is taking pride of place on the living room wall."
