The Red Bull trail was in perfect condition. |

3rd April 2005 |
Further refurbishment to the first of the final three
singletrack sections is now underway. Once you have ridden the recently
refurbished section (see below) the remainder of the section is strewn with
mud and rock in preparation for further work. We will advise when this work
is completed. |

The last sections of the Karrimor are rideable once again.
The rangers completed their initial rebuilding in time for Easter. |

The Trees blocking the 'Ant Trail' remain, however we
have been out with a chainsaw to remove protruding branches and generally
tidy up that area. The first half of the 'Ant Trail' (i.e. the fast descent
from the Plungepool) remains intact and whilst you still need to dismount to
cross the fallen trees the work we have done enables you to do this with
relative ease. |

Overall the trail is good. The recent high winds have
brought down several trees which are blocking the 'Ant Trail'. Leaving
'Plunge Pool 1', after the brief ascent, the incredibly steep and thin
forest path signal the start of the 'Ant Trail'. Very quickly speed builds
up as you hold on hoping not to disappear into the abyss on your left. As
the path curves right you need to hammer on the brakes as there is a huge
tree now blocking the path. The winds have snapped the tree about 6 feet
from its base and the first impression is you are approaching a set of
spears. The tree has fallen lengthwise up the path rather than falling
across and its 'bike on shoulder' to scramble across the length of the trunk
(taking care not to slip into oblivion to your left). After this obstacle,
there are another two felled trees another 100 yards further on. These have
fallen across the path complete with roots and again it requires some effort
to circumnavigate them. The rest of the Green Heifer is fine. |

Rhinog Vista Run |
14th Jan 2005 |
Overall the trail is riding well considering the recent
weather. A lot of evidence of the recent high winds in the way of fallen
trees. These have been cut and are not blocking the route. In persistent wet
conditions, 'Slipper Dipper' is annoyingly difficult especially on the
return leg. Getting up here in one go is definitely an achievement. |

Trail is in good condition. Some sections muddy and hence
more slippery than normal. Evidence of many minor repairs by the ever
vigilant rangers. |

Trail is in fair condition. Some sections of single-track
showing signs of erosion where they drop down to wider road/forest trail
sections - care needed here. Some of the bumps and jumps have been smoothed
out - spoiling the excitement in our view. |
