Click here to choose your accommodation near to these trails Overview - Why Choose Cadair View Lodge
It is clear to us what brings so many mountain bikers to our cabins. The lure of Coed y Brenin's purpose built trails is hard to resist. And given that we virtually back onto these trails our log cabin accommodation is the perfect choice. But......there is so much more. Within an hours drive from your cabin there are 16 superb trails to ride. The five official trails at CyB (The Dragon's Tail, MBR, MinorTaur, The Beast, Temtiwr and Tarw) are first class. MinorTaur Blue Trail at Coed y Brenin from Campbell Coaching on Vimeo. There is also the Rhinog Vista loop, a cracking ride direct from the cabins down onto the Coed-y-Brenin trails. Utilising some of the best single-track sections from the old Karrimor and MBR routes, coupled with some tough natural single-track and cross country navigation, the Vista run will prove to be a challenge even to the expert rider. A short 15 minute drive North West from the cabins leads you to Coed y Garnedd. This is a combination of long climbs mixed with some fantastic downhill and awesome cross country. It is all natural and if you ride it you are unlikely to meet anyone else. This is one of our favourite short rides and there are elements to challenge the most experienced riders. Thirty minutes drive south leads you to Machynlleth which offers a variety of riding with the Mach1, Mach2 and Mach3. Also starting from Machynlleth there is the awesome 'Climax' trail. A fine mix of climbs, testing singletrack and awesome scenery spread over 15km. If you've just come off Coed y Brenin at first the Climax may feel rather tame. Two thirds in you are enjoying the ride but can't help thinking something is missing. Then the last third of the ride unfolds. This is just totally awesome and is a must do. When you reach the bottom near Corris you will be grinning from ear to ear. Further South from the cabin just over an hours drive is Nant yr Arian, near Aberystwyth. 30 minutes North from the cabin leads you to the newly opened Penmachno trail. 45 minutes North also takes you to the Gwydr Marin trail near Betws y Coed. Another favourite ride littered with superb singletrack and a final section which will live in your memory long after you have left to return home to the cabin. Driving North East from the cabin, about 45 minutes drive, leads to the new Llandegla Forest trails. Technical singletracks is the name of the game here with great flowing sections of trail cutting through the remote sections of the forest. This track utilises huge bermed switchbacks, whoops, tabletops and more to test your ability and nerve. Due East from the cabins behind the Rhinogau there is the demanding Pont Scethin ride. Start from Talybont, which is just 30 minutes drive, this ride ascends and then descends two ridges which form part of the Rhinogau. The climbs are demanding and unless you are Clark Kent there will be parts where your bike will be pushed. Once the summits are reached you can enjoy the downhill sections, taking in the incredible scenery as you hurtle down. Summary of Coed y Brenin trails

Check our 'trails latest news' link to get the very latest news relating to all of the local trails THE Pink Heifer When we ask riders about the Pink Heifer, specifically where the Pink Heifer is located, about 99% respond the same way by pulling out the trail map for the MBR and pointing to the 'pink heifer' section. Inevitably this never fails to bring a smile to our faces as we begin to explain about the THE Pink Heifer. Yes there is a section titled the pink heifer on the MBR. But this is not THE Pink Heifer. Officially the existence of THE Pink Heifer is denied. The official line is that THE Pink Heifer did exist as one of Dafydd Davies' first creations, but this eventually became the MBR trail when this opened in 1998. But we can confirm the rumours and, deep in the heart of the Coed-y-Brenin forest, THE Pink Heifer lays in wait for its next victims.......more |
