Sue Steadman Early Career

Sue began her career in 1978 working for a high street retailer, working in their IT department as a computer programmer. She progressed through several different businesses with ever increasing responsibilities until she was made redundant in 2000. With family responsibilities limiting how far she could travel for work, Sue set-up an IT consultancy and training business. Her clients were small businesses that wanted to know how a PC could help them in their businesses and needed basic IT skills. Sue created websites, databases and automations to help these businesses.

In 2003, she and her then husband bought a log cabin on Trawsfynydd Holiday Village in Snowdonia / Eryri to rent out. A few months later they bought another. With no experience of the hospitality business they used the knowledge of what they liked from a holiday and learned on the job.

How Cadair View Lodge Ltd Began

Cadair View Lodge was started in 2003 and incorporated in 2007. The business gained more log cabins, to rent out, to by word of mouth referrals, reaching a peak of 26 cabins at the height. Guests found Cadair View Lodge Ltd via a comprehensive website and active social media presence. In 2023, Sue stepped back from the day to day running of the business in order to partly retire. The business is now run and owned by Rachel Jones, but Sue is still very much involved with behind the scenes work. She is still responsible for website maintenance, some of the social media and with general back-up and knowledge.

The business has always been based on:

•  a "can do" spirit

• innovative ideas (they achieved many "firsts" in the area beating bigger companies)

• a focus on customer service

• great local knowledge

Sue still loves to find new places and activities around the area for Cadair View Lodge guests to experience. Many of her blogs details her days out and experiences that she has had.
