Welcome packs included in all of our Welsh log cabin stays

Years ago I worked in a very posh five star hotel, the first of its kind in town. We were just down the road from the regional TV studios and a few international sporting venues, and the Sales Manager was friendly with the managers of most of the city's music venues. Between all of these things we had a steady stream of TV stars, politicians, international sports teams and rock bands staying. Oh, the tales I could tell...

One of our regular guests, the star of a long-running TV series, confessed one night that he didn't like the very expensive chocolate placed on his pillow at evening turn-down, his favourite chocolates were actually Smarties. By the next morning we'd stocked up with them, and that's what he got every night from then on. Some of the other guest's requests were harder to meet, but somehow we always managed. Let me tell you, those stories you read about bizarre pop star riders, they're all true.

Here at the cabins we'll always try to track down that special something if a guest asks, but thankfully most of our visitors are much more low-maintenance than rock stars! Instead, we make sure we supply the essentials for a self-catering stay. We keep all cabins topped up with washing up liquid, kitchen roll and basic cleaning supplies. Our welcome basket contains loo rolls, kitchen and bathroom bin bags, a dishcloth, Welsh Brew tea, coffee and sugar, hand-made guest soap from The Soap Mine in Beddgelert, and a gift voucher for our village shop to buy fresh milk, bread, eggs, or whatever else you fancy. The baskets themselves are made by Ruby Gingham Designs in Harlech - I'm a bit obsessed with Welsh tapestry, can you tell?

Visiting dogs get a doggy bag of their own, which currently contains treats from Burns Pet Nutrition in Carmarthenshire, a few poo bags to get you through the first day at least, and a set of tick twisters. And if you've ever wondered what happens to all the slightly used tennis balls from big competitions, we buy them in bulk for our doggy guests.

We think we've covered the basics AND done what we can to support Welsh businesses. Because, unless you're a very fussy rock diva, you probably want to get away from it all not bring it all with you 💕
