Planning A Trip To Snowdonia or North Wales?
Here are the answers to some of the questions that we're asked most often. If you're still looking for an answer please send us a message, email or us or call.
When "Snowdonia" is entered into a sat nav the directions given will often bring a driver to Trawsfynydd as it is in the very centre of the Snowdonia / Eryri National Park. This is in the southern part of the Snowdonia National Park. Our log cabins are set in a peaceful, quiet location a few miles outside of the village.
Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) is one of many mountains within the National Park. If you are looking to walk up that mountain, it is about 60 minutes drive from our location.
Cadair View Lodge manage a number of self-catering log cabins all in the same location, the Trawsfynydd Holiday Village. These ARE NOT caravans / pre-fabricated lodges with wood on the outside, but true Norwegian log cabins... made from logs!
The log cabins are set on a hill side and mostly have fantastic mountain views of the Rhinogydd mountains and of Cadair Idris (or Cader Idris if you prefer) - see the photos on the website. The cabins are warm and cosy when they need to be and in a great location for exploring both the mountains and the coast.

It'd be difficult to find many places closer to Coed y Brenin than our log cabins. Drive 2 miles down the road to the Coed y Brenin Visitor Centre OR ride out to the trails from the front door of your log cabin. A warm-up ride up and over the hill to the rear of our accommodation will bring you directly onto the back of the trails.
We have no restrictions on bookings from single sex groups (but obviously we expect all visitors to be respectful) and can accommodate larger groups across a number of log cabins.
Most of the year we accept stays of 1 or more nights meaning that a Saturday / Sunday mountain biking trip is possible with us.
Our log cabins are warm and cosy with unlimited hot water for showers. Our bunk beds are full sized single beds - made for adults. If you have long legs... check with us which of our cabins have double beds that allow you to "dangle" your legs over the ends! Many of the cabins also have a hose for washing down bikes outside. Please bring your own locks to secure bikes to the railings on the decks.

Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) is now a very busy mountain and during busy times it is not unusual for walkers to have to queue to stand on the top. Unless it "has" to be Snowdon maybe try one of the other, quieter mountains such as Cadair Idris, Arenig Fawr, the Carneddau.

The new owners of Trawsfynydd Holidays Ltd seem to have decided to rebrand Trawsfynydd Holiday Village as Trawsfynydd Leisure Village in places. Rest assured that whether it is called Trawsfyydd Holiday Village or Trawsfynydd Leisure Village, Cadair View Lodge Ltd still manage the same great log cabins on the same site on behalf of private, individual log cabins owners as we have done since 2003.

Trawsfynydd Holiday Village is a quiet and peaceful place, even at the busiest times of the year.
There are no amusements, games rooms or club house. There is a small bistro / bar which is open for meals and drinks but its opening hours and operating conditions are strictly laid down by the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.
Most visitors to Trawsfynydd Holiday Village are out and about during the day, visiting local sights or taking part in activities. The majority of properties are used solely by their owners and are empty most of the year (especially during weekdays).
Joking aside we have had a TripAdvisor review complaining that we're "miles from anywhere" and that "there are hardly any shops". Does this sound like you? Although we are away from large towns and villages we are within 15 minutes of Dolgellau for shopping.

Having a car during your stay with us in Southern Snowdonia will give the best options for exploring the area. However we have had guests who have come without transport and still had a great time.
The Transport for Wales T2 bus service passes along the main road not far from us. This bus runs between Bangor and Aberystwyth. See details of the current (October 2025) timetable HERE
