"Gwel y Mynydd" means "mountain view" in Welsh, and the view certainly has the "WOW" factor!  The log cabin is an elevated position with a stunning view of the Rhinogydd mountain across the valley from both the veranda inside of the cabin and the deck at the front.

There is parking for up to 3 cars.  The cabin sleeps up to 5 guests in 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with a single bed.  Cabins with a single bed in the smaller bedroom are very rare.  There is also a double bed settee in the living area.   The cabin is ideal for a family break but also a great place for a couple to escape to.  Because of the bed configuration the cabin is also suitable for small groups to stay.

This cabin welcomes dogs (2 dogs maximum).  The large deck is gated.

My favourite things about Gwel y Mynydd:

  • the mountain view!

  • it has a separate, small freezer

  • it has a dishwasher

  • WiFi

More information

Gwel y Mynydd is a more basic cabin than many and this is reflected in the price for a stay.

The cabin has 2 bedrooms and is in an elevated position in the middle of the village.  As mentioned before it is pet friendly (maximum of 2 dogs at a small extra charge) and will sleep up to 5 guests.  An unusual feature of this cabin is that there is just a single bed in the smaller bedroom (most cabins have bunk beds).  This makes it a great option for small groups coming to the area to mountain bike (Coed y Brenin is 2 miles away) or to walk.   There is also a double bed and a double bed settee in the living area.

The cabin has a small, but well equipped kitchen with a full sized stove, microwave, kettle and fridge plus the added bonus of a counter top freezer AND a dishwasher!  The dining area is at the front of the cabin with views across the mountains.

In the open plan living area there are a range of comfortable seats, including 2 leather chairs with footstools.  There is a TV.  The cabin is heated by mix of electric storage and on demand heaters.  All electricity for heating and hot water is included in the price.

The shower room has a walk-in shower.

Outside there is a large, gated deck with a table and chairs.  The deck has a superb view of the mountains and is ideal for those who who are interested in astrophotography, families who want to see planets, meteors and the Milky Way but also couples would would like to spend a romantic evening with a drink under the stars.

Behind the cabin is a gravelled parking area with space for up to 3 cars.
