The first in a series of blogs about why people looking for a holiday in Snowdonia (or just a Staycation) should choose to stay with Cadair View Lodge
There are stories everywhere about holiday accommodation providers hiking up their prices for #staycations due to an increase in demand.
At Cadair View Lodge there have been NO DRAMATIC increases over the last few years BUT guests now receive several EXTRAS.
What extras have been added? * Even more rigorous cleaning to comply with current Covid requirements * Single use welcome packs to comply with Covid requirements (no washing-up liquid, loo cleaner, soap left between guests and more) * Bed linen free of charge for all stays * WiFi in cabins
How has Cadair View Lodge looked after guests over the last year? Everybody who was booked to stay has had the choice of a full refund OR to move their stay to a later date (some guests have had to move more than once - unfortunately). Cadair View Lodge has covered the cost of this themselves. It might seem a bit odd but we are charged by our card processing provider for issuing refunds - so we are charged a fee for taking the money from somebody's card AND for giving it back. We have also had staff available to answer guests' and potential guests' questions, write newsletters and keep up with social media posts to let everybody know what's going on.
So does this mean that we've had huge grants to keep us going over lock down? No not at all. We've had some funding which has been enough to keep our essential bills (accountants, bank charges, card processing, phones, website) paid (but not to pay the wages of our directors). Some companies have increased their prices so that they can "claw back" their loses. The money that we lost due to lock down will (probably) never be recovered.
So we say that we've not upped our prices... HERE's an example.
Price for 7 nights in a log cabin in August 2018... £620 Price for 7 nights in a log cabin in August 2021... £650
Prices for a 2 night weekend in 2018... £280
Prices for a 2 night weekend in 2020 + 2021... £320 (for extra guest safety we've been leaving cabins empty for a night between stays which means we an either sell a weekend break OR a mid-week break... not both).
Stays from 2 nights accepted December - October (book short stays via email for July + August)
