Gwel-y-Cwm Log Cabin

This is a great log cabin if you and your party need accommodation with parking alongside.

The cabin sleeps up to 4 guests in a double bed and a set of bunk beds (note that all of our bunk beds are full sized single beds and are suitable for adults) but it is ideal for a couple to have a weekend break too.

It is on the edge of the Village and just across the path from open countryside.  Ponies are often kept in the field across the path.  From the cabin it is possible to see Cadair Idris (or Cader Idris if you prefer), Diffwys and the southern part of the Rhinogydd range of mountains.  It is part of the Snowdonia Dark Sky Reserve and has a great view of the sky to the south and over towards the east.

Gwel-y-Cwm has parking alongside the cabin for 1 car and there are steps up to its sunny deck.

The cabin is pet friendly (2 dogs maximum).  There is a gate on the deck and it has its own hedged garden (which is not escape proof!).

I imagine, though I've not yet seen anything, that this cabin would be great for spotting the squirrels, rabbits, hedgehogs and other wildlife that lives around the Village.  It's also in a great spot for hearing the cuckoos on the hillside in Spring and for hearing the deer rutting in Coed y Brenin.

My favourite things about Gwel-y-Cwm:

  • the view - always changing

  • the location - quiet, peaceful... and THAT view!

  • parking alongside the cabin

  • WiFi

  • PONIES!

More information

"Gwel-y-Cwm" means "see the Valley" or "Valley view" in Welsh, and you certainly can.

The parking space for this cabin is right alongside.  Great for guests who have trouble walking very far (but there are steps, with a handrail, up to the cabin) or for those who have lots of luggage with them.  It's also a great place to stay if arriving by motorcycle.  Parking is right outside the window.  There is a slope (rather than steps) up to the deck from the parking space to the right of the cabin (looking from the road).

The cabin is heated via electric storage heaters and fan heaters.  There is unlimited hot water from electric water heaters and there is an electric shower.  All electricity is included in the price.

We will supply bed linen for all beds booked.

This cabin is what I always call "the other way around"!  Instead of the bed rooms being at the back of the living area, in this cabin they are at the side.  This makes them slightly bigger.  The little entrance hall in this cabin has been "knocked through" into the living space giving a larger area, great for families (especially with small children) but also those who are bringing dogs.  The entrance has a large sliding "French" window which means that the cabin is lovely and bright.

The cabin has a well equipped kitchen with full sized stove, microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge (with icebox).

Gwel-y-Cwm is great for families, couples, small groups.  This cabin is next door to Caban Antur so ideal if your party needs to rent several cabins.  It is around 5 minutes walk from Caban Eryri, Ty Coed, Haulfryn and Pine Tree Lodge.

This cabin has a good sized TV in the living area (and another in the double bed room) and also has WiFi.

This cabin will be professionally cleaned and sanitised ready for your arrival.
